Tanzania has been voted the best safari country in the world, yet it is also a costly place to travel. That is not something we can change. What we can do is break down what a safari actually costs, so you know where your money goes. So, how much does a safari cost?

Safari cost Tanzania
These are the elements that together determine the total price of a safari in Tanzania:
- Hire of the safari vehicle & a private guide
- Entrance fees for the national parks
- Accommodation
The first two elements are fixed, unless you decide to share the safari vehicle with a larger group. The park entrance fees are steep: driving a safari jeep into the Ngorongoro Crater, for example, costs 300 US-Dollars per day, on top of 78.50 US-Dollars per person. That is what makes a safari such an expensive trip. Where you can save is on accommodation, depending on how much luxury or exclusivity you want.
Safari cost per day
On average, a safari starts at roughly $520,- per person per day when you stay in the Silver Class Hotels. Even when four of you travel together, you should still count on around $450 per person per day.

Why choose Silver Class accommodation
Our Silver Class accommodation offers the best balance between price and quality. These hotels, lodges and camps sit in lovely spots with great views, good service and fair prices. Silver Class is certainly not budget accommodation. Opting for budget accommodation instead saves you 15 to 30 US-Dollars a day, but you give up quality and location. We always suggest our Silver Class hotels, so you get the most out of where you stay. Your Tanzania Trip has 4 staff members who regularly inspect the accommodations, so we are confident we offer you the best.
Low-budget accommodation
If you genuinely need to keep overnight costs down and the Silver Class hotels are beyond your budget, our advice is to go camping. Tanzania has plenty of good campsites where you can sleep in small dome tents.

Safari cost Zanzibar
Compared with safari accommodation on the mainland, Zanzibar is considerably cheaper. On this tropical island our Silver Class accommodation costs just $40 per person, per night. The lodge we chose sits right on the beach in the most beautiful village on Zanzibar.
We always encourage our guests to settle on a safari budget first. How much are you prepared to spend on a safari? And would you like to finish your safari with a beach holiday on Zanzibar? Knowing this makes it much easier to put together an itinerary that fits you.
