On a hill between Lake Manyara National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Rhotia Valley Lodge looks out over the Ngorongoro Forest and the plantations nearby. The lodge has 15 tented rooms. Every one has its own terrace, a king-sized bed with mosquito nets and an ensuite bathroom where hot water awaits after a day on safari. Around the main area you will find a pool to cool off in, a place to eat with a terrace (lovely at sundowner time) and WiFi for sharing the day’s photos. Even better, the lodge treads lightly: its buildings are made of indigenous hardwood and the farm supplies its own vegetables. It supports a children’s home too (feel free to visit), bakes bread for the school and has a coffee corner where people from the local community work.
